چکیده
Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a heterogeneous disease process primarily considered to be of nasal origin. Highlighted in this case, CRS may result from an odontogenic infection. An 82-year-old man presented with 6-month history malodor and purulent drainage. He endorsed recurrent frontal headaches, anosmia, dysgeusia, but denied odontalgia. had been treated 2 courses oral antibiotics without durable benefit. Physical examination showed poor dentition, left-sided rhinorrhea, the absences oroantral fistula (OAF). The mucopurulence was found emanating left osteomeatal complex (OC) on endoscopy. Cultures drainage grew coagulase-negative staphylococcus as part mixed respiratory flora. Odontogenic pain of non-odontogenic origin: A review
Pain in the orofacial region is the most common reason for patients to visit a dental clinic. Tooth and/or its supporting structures are often source of pain. Pain originating from pulp dentine complex and/or periodontal structures presents with variable clinical characteristics and can be accurately diagnosed and treated. However, clinician often encounters situation when odontogenic causes of...

PROBLEM OF DEFINITION The discrepancy of definitions results mainly from the use of diVerent criteria such as symptom duration or intensity, the type of selected symptoms, and also from the need for and lack of other exploration methods such as imaging or bacteriological culture. In the definition proposed by the International Conference on Sinus Disease in 1993 the criteria for chronic sinusit...

Introduction: Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS), defined as an inflammatory process involving the paranasal sinuses that continues for at least three months, is a major cause of morbidity in the pediatric population and a difficult entity to treat with a poorly defined pathophysiology. The cornerstone of treatment for children with CRS remains aggressive antibiotic therapy, but many patients fail t...
متن کاملCerebral Abscess Potentially of Odontogenic Origin
Odontogenic origins are rarely implicated in the formation of brain abscesses. The relative paucity of this kind of infection and the difficulty in matching the causative microorganisms of a brain abscess to an odontogenic source can explain the late management of patients. We herein describe a case of a 46-year-old man with a cerebellar abscess that was probably due to an odontogenic infection...
متن کاملChronic rhinosinusitis in children.
Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) affects nearly 37 million people in the United States each year and accounts for approximately $6 billion in direct and indirect health care costs. Despite its prevalence and significant impact, little is known about its exact cause and pathophysiology, and significant controversy remains regarding appropriate treatment options. Basic science research, however, has ...
